Corn Pudding: This is a rich version of a suet cake and tends to disappear quickly in cold weather. In a deep bowl, mix together 4 c. water and 2 c. sugar. In a heavy pan over low heat, slowly melt 2 c. suet or lard; allow to cool slightly , then stir into the sugar-water mix, alternating with 4c. yellow cornmeal, until a soft dough forms. Gradually stir in 4 c. all purpose flour to make a stiff dough. Stuff dough deep into the crevices of large pinecones, then hang the cones as feeders with string. This dough works well in log feeders also.
