Suet: Suet is hard beef fat. Do not offer this kind of suet in warm weather - likely to go rancid or melt and stick to feathers. This kind of fat can be bought at meat markets or just cut off beef steaks or roasts at home before cooking. Placing them in a mesh bag (like what you get fresh fruit in at the grocery store) and hanging them is easy enough or invert & hang an old wire soap dish for the same effect. Rendered suet can also be melted in a heavy pan over low heat or microwave oven. Pour the rendered suet into a small mold (tuna can or small muffin cup and refrigerate to harden. Unmold the cake before offering to birds or you can pour the rendered suet over a large pinecone to cover and fill every crevice; refrigerate to harden and hang as a feeder.
