1-1/2 lbs lean ground pork 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon ground black pepper 1 teaspoon onion powder 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg 12 slices fresh bread or 6 hard rolls 6-12 thin ripe tomato slices 1/2 cup sour cream sauce
1. Prepare a medium-hot fire in y our grill.
2. Combine the pork, salt, pepper, onion powder, and nutmeg in a large bowl and blend well with your hands. Shape into 6 equal-size patties 4-5" in diameter.
3. Place the burgers directly over the coals, cover, and cook until no longer pink in the middle, 5-7 minutes per side.
4. Place the burgers on the French bread, top with the tomato slices and a dollop of sour cream sauce, and serve immediately.
Sour Cream Sauce 1/2 cup full-fat sour cream 1/2 teaspoon rubbed sage 1/4 teaspoon salt
Combine all the ingredients and blend well.
Makes 1-1/4 cups
Also good on fried pork chops, chicken, and breakfast sausage.
